{"id":3013,"date":"2021-12-13T10:49:48","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T15:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sabacycling.com\/bicycling\/?p=3013"},"modified":"2021-12-13T10:49:49","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T15:49:49","slug":"saba-end-of-the-year-summary-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sabacycling.com\/bicycling\/news\/saba-end-of-the-year-summary-2021","title":{"rendered":"SABA End of the Year Summary &#8211; 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In spite of Covid, SABA has accomplished several club objectives, including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Murphy Learning Center Nature Trail:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;club members helped build a nature trail and contributed a cash donation<\/li><li><strong>Group Road Rides <\/strong>resumed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays (currently suspended until spring).&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Group Mountain Bike<\/strong> rides resumed at Jackrabbit Trail System on Wednesday evenings (currently suspended until spring).<\/li><li><strong>Group Gravel Rides<\/strong> are new this year for the Club &#8211; rides announced on SABA Facebook<\/li><li><strong>Rails to Trails (Murphy to Andrews<\/strong>):&nbsp;&nbsp;SABA is now a Sponsor<\/li><li><strong>League of American Bicyclists (LAB<\/strong>):&nbsp;&nbsp;SABA joined LAB which includes over 1,200 clubs across the USA advocating for bike lanes and safer streets. Through the membership SABA now has better insurance coverage at a lower rate which enabled us to reduce our membership fees.<\/li><li><strong>Jackrabbit Trail System Expansion:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;the trail was expanded 5 miles rated as advanced \/ expert.<\/li><li><strong>Piney Knob Trail System Expansion:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;PK is now 13 miles with the recent expansion.<\/li><li><strong>Piney Knob Trail System Recognition:<\/strong> PK was 1 of only 10 trail systems in the country in 2021 to receive a <strong><u>National Recreation Trail<\/u><\/strong> designation from the Federal Dept of the Interior.<\/li><li><strong>SABA Sponsorship Program:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;The Club initiated a Sponsorship program. We now have 7 sponsors<\/li><li><strong>Murphy Shop with a Cop:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;SABA supported the Shop with a Cop program &#8211; we purchased 3 kids bikes and made a cash donation.&nbsp;&nbsp;We plan to continue this program annually, rotating from city to city.<\/li><li><strong>Share the Road:<\/strong> To raise awareness within the community of cyclists, the club distributed &#8220;Share the Road&#8221; stickers to club members and participants of the group road bike rides.<\/li><li><strong>SABA Membership:&nbsp;&nbsp;we currently have 75 members!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-button-hover-color-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<br><strong>Happy Holidays and Safe Cycling!!!!!!<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In spite of Covid, SABA has accomplished several club objectives, including:&nbsp;
