The Trail Crew Leader training course is a two‐day course for any volunteer that wants to learn the basic technical trail work skills to lead a crew. It will cover natural surface trail design, construction, maintenance and crew leader training. The focus is long term sustainability that can reduce overall maintenance needs and user impacts on natural resources. Trail crew leaders should have a strong commitment to building sustainable trails and get satisfaction out of helping others have a good time while doing good work.
The Trail Crew Leader Training Course will be taught by Walt Bready, a former Georgia Trails Education Specialist and current principle of B Ready Trails. He has played a role in the design and construction of over 50 miles of singletrack in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and has taught trail crew leader and sustainability courses in the southeast since 2005. Walt is active with IMBA-SORBA and has been a member since 1996. He also worked for the Southeastern region of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) serving in a field staff position for the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). Walter is a native of Atlanta and now lives in Woodstock near the trails of Blankets Creek and Olde Rope Mill Park.
